ALKALINITY

We want our bodies to be in an alkaline state above pH 7.365 as shown in the diagram below. This is because of a multitude of reasons but the top being because cancer, disease and illnesses will not survive in an alkaline environment. It’s important to note that food and water alone will not change the pH of your body but rather assist in the regulation of optimal pH. Your body will make sure that your blood and stomach acid is a specific pH. Viruses, yeast, bacteria, mold, fungus and candida thrive in an acidic, low oxygen, low pH environment. The most alkaline parts of our diets are fruits, veggies & Kangen water. When our pH levels are too acidic, the body will compensate for acid by using alkaline minerals, like sodium from the stomach, or calcium from our bones. This can cause Osteoporosis, organ failure, and most other chronic diseases. If there are not enough minerals in the diet to compensate, a build-up of acids in the cells will occur.

HYDRATION & WATER QUALITY

When it comes down to drinking water, any water with a pH above 7.0 is considered to be alkaline, no matter the process that it has gone through to get there. Many people who hear the word alkaline automatically assume that it means it’s healthy and high quality water. Bottles with these labels are often misleading and confusing providing the same over-priced health benefits as tap water. As long as the pH is above 7.0 it can legally be labelled as alkaline water. Your tap water at home may even be considered alkaline in accordance with these standards. There is a huge difference between Alkaline water and Alkalized water. One has a multitude of different benefits and one does not. Our bodies are made up of over 75% water, so it is super important to be informed on the quality of water that you are consuming. Every organ, tissue, and cell require water to survive. But as we now know, not all water is created equal.

 

EVERY HEALING AND LIFE GIVING PROCESS THAT HAPPENS IN OUR BODY HAPPENS THROUGH WATER.

You cannot change the bodies pH through food or water but you can assist your body in regulating and recovery of optimal pH. Our pH is measured on a scale ranging from 0-14 with 0 being the most acidic and 14 being the most alkaline. In order to transport oxygen throughout the body, our blood needs to maintain a pH level of approximately 7.35. Even though our bodies store excess alkaline reserves to buffer acids, if you’re eating a conventional diet filled with pesticides and processed foods, your reserve has likely depleted.  As Keiichi Morishita explains in his book "Hidden Truth of Cancer,"  as your blood's pH becomes too acidic, your body will move this acidic substances from the blood to your cells, allowing the blood to return to a healthy pH level of 7.35. As a result, all of these cells become too acidic and in some cases, begin to die. The cells that survive however, become abnormal cells that cannot correspond with your brain or DNA memory code, typically referred to as “malignant” cells, which will continuously grow. These are cancerous cells (source). While lowering cancer cell pH (increasing acidity) is effective against cancer cell mitosis in the lab, increasing acid levels in the living body of a cancer patient puts stress on normal cells and causes a lot of pain.  So the proposed alkaline therapy for people is a “high pH therapy” and has been developed to normalize the pH of the cancer patient’s body through elimination of latent acidosis. (source). Ideally, this approach begins with an alkaline diet. There is general agreement amongst natural healers and medical professionals from across the globe that changing a patient’s diet is extremely helpful when that patient is confronted with a cancer diagnosis.

 

The principles of pH therapy are very simple, according to many.  The metabolism of cancer cells does have a very narrow pH tolerance for cellular proliferation (between 6.5 and 7.5). If you can interfere with cancer cell metabolism by either lowering or raising the internal cancer cell pH, you can theoretically stop cancer progression. (source) Viruses, bacteria, yeast, mold, fungus, candida and cancer cells thrive in an acidic, low oxygen, low pH (anything below neutral pH 7) environment. An acidic pH can result from many things, such as emotional stress or toxic overload, but most commonly results from an acid-forming diet. The most alkaline foods are fruits and veggies (Spirulina, chlorella, lemons, kale, collard greens, brussel sprouts etc.) When our pH levels are too acidic, The body will compensate for acid by using alkaline minerals, like sodium from the stomach, or calcium from our bones. This is the cause of Osteoporosis and most other chronic diseases. If there are not enough minerals in the diet to compensate, a build-up of acids in the cells will occur. (A note from Kalee Brown). 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated and unable to fully let go of what they are consuming leading to toxic build up. Constipation is the first sign of disease.

 

ALKALINE VS ALKALIZED

Alkaline water has gone through a chemical change. The waters pH has been inorganically raised above 7.0 by adding in synthetic minerals like magnesium, calcium, and baking soda. If you are buying bottled water that is labeled Alkaline you could very easily just be drinking expensive baking soda water. Alkaline water has little to none proven health benefits.

Alkalized water has gone through an electrical change, through the process of electrolysis. This process produces alkaline ionized water from the natural chemistry of water, without having to add additional chemicals or synthetic compounds.

ALKALINITY IN YOUR DIET

Dead foods are classified as nutrient stripped, fiber-less foods such as meat, fish and dairy. Meat and dairy contain animal protein, saturated fat, and, in some cases, carcinogenic compounds such as heterocyclic amines (HCA) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), which are formed during processing/cooking. Meat also contains hormones, which increase your cancer risk as well as many other chronic diseases. Meat, dairy products, and eggs all contain high levels of cholesterol and saturated fat and contribute to some of our top killers: heart attack, stroke, diabetes, and various types of cancer. Saturated fat is present in all meat and fish, even chicken and turkey cooked without the bird's skin on. Decades of scientific study have linked dietary cholesterol to cardiovascular disease — our country’s number-one cause of death, killing nearly 2,200 Americans daily. According to a study published by the ADA (American Diabetes Association,) people who eat high amounts of animal protein are 22% more likely to develop diabetes. Saturated fat has even been linked to breast cancer, as well as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and cognitive decline. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports that 70% of all food poisoning is caused by contaminated animal flesh. Food borne diseases, such as E. Coli, Salmonella, and Campylobacter, cause an estimated 76 million illnesses, 325,000 hospitalizations, and 5,000 deaths in the United States each year. These numbers are growing by the second. Eating meat puts you at a greater risk for food poisoning because animal products are often tainted with fecal contamination during slaughter or processing. Fecal contamination in chicken, especially, is a major problem we face today. According to a Consumer Reports study, 97 percent of raw chicken in U.S. supermarkets is contaminated with bacteria that could make customers sick. So if you eliminate animal products from your diet, you'll also be eliminating your exposure to the most common carrier of these bacteria.

Consuming a diet centered around natural, whole foods grown from the earth is the most powerful step you can take towards immediate detoxification and cleansing. Researchers have shown that a more plant-based diet may help prevent, treat, or reverse some of our leading causes of death, including heart diseasetype 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure.  Plant-based diet intervention groups have reported greater diet satisfaction than control groups, as well as improved digestion, increased energy, and better sleep, and significant improvement in their physical functioning, general health, vitality, and mental health. Studies have shown plant-based eating can improve not only body weight, blood sugar levels, and ability to control cholesterol, but also emotional states, including depression, anxiety, fatigue, sense of well-being, and daily functioning. Only one way of eating has ever been proven to reverse heart disease in the majority of patients: a diet centered around whole plant foods. If that’s all a whole-food, plant-based diet could do—reverse our number-one killer—shouldn’t that be the default diet until proven otherwise? The fact it may also be effective in preventing, treating, and arresting other leading killers seems to make the case for plant-based eating simply overwhelming. (NutritionFacts.org)

 

HEAVY METALS FOUND IN WATER & FOOD

Toxic heavy metals such as mercury, aluminum, copper, cadmium, lead, arsenic, nickel, chrome, alloy, and steel are hidden antagonizers that can find their way into our bodies and wreak havoc. If you want to heal from chronic illness and symptoms, removing the heavy metals in your body is an amazing place to start. Signs of heavy metal toxicity include ADHD, ADD, autism, depression, alzheimer’s, memory loss, focus and concentration issues and much more. Pesticides can be found in literally everything from air, food, and water to breast milk. They are the only toxic substances intentionally released into our environment to kill living organisms such as rodents (rodenticides), insects (insecticides), weeds (herbicides), and fungus (fungicides). High levels of these chemicals are most commonly found in children, whose bodies and developing organs are particularly vulnerable. Children take in pesticides in the womb, at home and daycare, and on schools and playgrounds. Using MRI technology, researchers found that even low levels exposure to the widely used insecticide chlorpyrifos in utero caused irreversible brain damage (Toxic Action Center.) The last place we need these sprays is on our food before it enters our body.

I personally own an in-home water ionization machine that produces 2.5 pH (strong acidic) as well as 11.5 pH (strong alkaline) electrolyzed reduced water that removes pesticides from food before consumption. Up to 80% removal of pesticides according to a study done by the National Institute of Health (PubMed.gov)

To remove pesticides with electrolyzed reduced water:

​

  1. Fill a large bowl, tub, or the entire kitchen sink with 11.5 pH water to remove all oil based pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, etc. from the foods.

  2. Soak all produce for 3-5 minutes.

  3. Rinse the produce off under 2.5 pH water which eliminates dirt or bacteria left behind during the cleaning process.

AVOID ALL FLUORINATED AND CHLORINATED DRINKS

FLUORIDE

Our skin is our largest organ, so it is no wonder we absorb more toxic exposure from showering in tap water than we do drinking it.
 

Fluoride has been added into most drinking waters in the US since 1950. Now, almost all toothpastes, dental creams and drinking water in the US contains dangerous levels of fluoride. Fluoride has been shown to cause calcification of cartilage (the essential tissue for joint health), degenerative osteoarthritis, toxicity to the Thyroid (Fluoride is toxic to thyroid cells; it inhibits function and causes cell death), fertility complications (Higher levels of fluoride correspond to lower fertility rates, particularly with drinking/showering water levels), effects on both male and female hormone levels/hormonal health.

​

Most water purification machines are not adequate for removing fluoride from water. Many require a separate pre-filter to be used during the process of efficient fluoride removal. I avoid fluoridated drinking water by using an in home water filtration system. I personally love and recommend pre-filters for my electrolyzed reduced water machine made by a company called "IonFacuet." You can request a free water quality report for your local area and see what contaminants you should be aware of in your local drinking water. CHLORINE

Chlorine is used to disinfect water used in our pools, pipes and showers. Chlorine’s potential toxicity is not limited to mold and fungus and has been linked to many serious health dangers for humans. Consider this... chlorine is toxic enough to be a chemical weapon and categorized as a “choking agent”. Inhalation of chlorine gas can cause difficulty breathing, chest pains, cough, eye irritation, increased heartbeat, rapid breathing, and death. (GlobalHealingCenter.org)

In order to shower in chlorine-free water, I use a mineral ion shower filtration system that removes 99% of chlorine from shower water. The water filter removes harmful chemicals such as chlorine, as well as dirt, bacteria, and mold. It then re-mineralizes the shower water with natural hot spring rocks such as Tufa and powerstone. It simply connects to your regular shower head and re-diverts the water momentarily through the filtration system and mineral rocks before releasing it through your shower head or into your bathtub. A chemical-free clean is always best. I purchased this machine with the intention of lessening my chemical exposure and curing my chronic dandruff and occasional body acne. I experienced radical healing of my lifelong dandruff within a month and have not had a recurrence of acne since I started using it.

CHLORINE WAS FIRST ADDED INTO OUR WATER IN THE 19TH CENTURY TO COMBAT DISEASES SUCH AS TYPHOID AND CHOLERA.
